Punta Cana Tours & Activities
Suggested Itineraries: Punta Can
If the southeast has the best beaches in the
DR, then Bávaro and Punta Cana have the best beaches of the
southeast. Punta Cana (Grey-Haired Point) is the easternmost tip
of the region and country. And though it’s the name many
travellers recognise, there are just a few resorts and a
beautiful seaside golf course here.
Several kilometres north, Bávaro is significantly more
developed, with more than 30 resorts plus the area’s best
options for independent travellers.
The Costa de Coco has the Dominican Republic's best beaches.
Postcards don't do justice to their pure white sand and
aquamarine water, with coconut palms reaching up into cloudless
skies.
That said, all beaches in the DR are public by law and although
hotels can and do restrict the use of their beach chairs and
umbrellas to hotel guests, it is perfectly okay to walk along
the water and set up your towel on the sand wherever you like.
